Parrish enshrined into the UMD Philip Merrill College of Journalism Hall of Fame

MAP Strategies Group CEO Mi-Ai Parrish is greeted by Dean Lucy Dalglish of the Merrill School of Journalism at the University of Maryland as she is enshrined into the school’s new Hall of Fame, joining just six new members and 11 Distinguished Alumni.

MAP Strategies Group CEO Mi-Ai Parrish returned to College Park, Md., and her alma mater at the University of Maryland to help unveil the all-new Philip Merrill College of Journalism Hall of Fame and welcome its inaugural class.

Parrish joins this year's inductees into the Hall of Fame as a previously honored 2013 Distinguished Alumni award recipient by the UMD Alumni Association. Twelve Distinguished Alumni and the six new honorees will be enshrined into the Hall of Fame at John S. and James L. Knight Hall for future generations of journalists to aspire to and learn from.

“I always enjoy coming back to UMD and seeing friends and family, and am especially nostalgic by the visit to the new Hall of Fame,” says Parrish, who received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1992 before embarking on a career that took her into the upper echelon of the media industry. “And it is humbling and rewarding to see that all those years of hard work paid off when a plaque that bears your name and a brief history of your accomplishments is posted at an institution that I hold in such high regard.”

The Merrill College celebrates its 50th anniversary this year as a leading center of journalism excellence and is home to the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism, the Shirley Povich Center for Sports Journalism, the National Association of Black Journalists, among other groups.

“Merrill College’s graduates have distinguished themselves in news reporting, foreign correspondence, broadcasting, newsroom leadership, marketing, communications, advertising and a host of entrepreneurial endeavors,” Dean Lucy Dalglish said.
